Well, where do I begin? Made with PICO-8 in 10 days. Ten freaking days! Super sexy smooth animations. Gorgeous graphics. Compelling gameplay. You my friend are a damn wizard!
wonderful little game! i saw the speedrun, but my playthrough took about an hour because i kept jumping around and floating for fun! loved the music, the character designs, the little :> face of the other creatures. felt sad to leave them behind! but hopefully now they'll be able to find their own way off-world!
I like the look and mechanics of the game. It think it's a really simple and short game. It is a bit hard to figure out what to do but I think that adds to the game.
Good job on getting a small game done and finished! It all feels polished and looks solid!
What were the coins for? Except showing me where I haven't been yet. But there was nothing to buy.
What I didn't like is that every area uses the same textures. You get totally lost. It could get moistier the deeper you get or so, so you have more orientation.
I think it would have been more impactful if you saw the EMP cannon all the time, but couldn't reach it. They just talk about it, but you don't know where it is. And when you stumble over it, you beat the game.
It was more of a rhetorical question since you clearly you don't understand what this is... but yet have to add your criticism to an amazing piece of art. I suggest you play games and fully understand and comprehend what they are fully next time before trying to passive aggressively knock it down.
I said passive aggressive not aggressive. I'll make it easy.
Lets play a game... Keep in mind you decided to assume this was a full game released to the public when its a game jam game on a limited engine.
**Why did SupraGames write a comment??**
1) They are a fan of game jams and Pico-8 and wanted to apply constructive feedback to help grow the creators confidence and help the community?
2) They seen a game on the front page of itch and decided to write a long winded criticism to point out any flaw you can find in an attempt to knock down someone who you perceived as competition and add a positive sentence on top such as Good work on this but..?
I agree! I really loved the game and for me it was a little disorienting at first.
I don't feel you need to buy anything, but it would be nice if at the end of the game it said something along the lines of "you got 56/100 coins" or something like that.
I agree that it's a little confusing, I had to teleport around a lot before I could remember where I was, but usually in games I find I remember where I am pretty quickly. I think it's something called 'invisible design' or something like that, where you subconsciously map things in your mind. I love the idea of making thing mossier and more water-damaged the further you go down
I knew that the EMP canon was to the left, because thats the direction you were shot from , but I thought you had to keep going down until the water was drained, though that part was still a cool mechanic.
This game is really amazing for what it is and very professional looking. if the creator added these little things and made the game a bit longer with maybe a bit more plot I really think they could charge for it!
one more thing I would add: the name of the robot character! Id love to know the name of our little robot friend, and maybe the other aliens too.
Funny story, I get two dislikes and this comment appears lol normally a person apologizes of realizing their mistake or explain the miscommunication. This moron just comments from another account. Love how they share not only a similar opinion, but have post it from the same IP address bahhahahahaha NOT SLICK SUPRAGAMES
Hmm I don't believe you did your IP search quite right. Im not SupraGames, I just have a similar opinion to them. I also did not downvote any of your comments. I had read your comments on SupraGames though, and what I said was a critique on how the author could improve their games in the future, and possibly turn this one into a profit. I'm apologize if i somehow offended you with my opinions.
You should apologize for being passive aggressive. Instead of addressing the original question you again take the passive aggressive route and dislike it and comment from another account. Maybe you should spent more time creating new ideas and less time trying to validate your original jealous of success opinion that is still irrelevant. All you did was waste valuable time writing the same nonsense with a nicer tone. At least be a man and not pretend to be someone else. This isn' t steam where you knock competition down, its a community. Go work on something productive and stop wasting more of your time and looking foolish. Paranoid catcus isn't trying to rip people off, hes working hours and sharing art for free, so your precious studio is safe. Case closed, go somewhere else and next time don't comment out of jealousy someone is getting attention for being creative..
First of all of a woman, not a man. I’m still not Supra despite whatever you think. Second, I don’t own a studio, I’m still in college, and I haven’t made video games in a while, I just like playing them. I never said ParanoidCactus was ripping people off, I was offering ‘critique’, to help them improve possible new games and keep things in mind for the future. I really do love their games, including this one. Thank you for understanding about this miscommunication, have a nice day!
Look into Pico-8. I'm pretty sure you have to be insane, a genius, or both to do anything with it and add to that this dev made this freaking awesome game in 10 days, my money is on the fact this dev is an insane genius of wizard proportions. I think the game is fabulous. Add to it the constraints the dev was working with..... pure genius!
Don't waste your time lol. This type of morons idea of creativity is making a kickstarter for the game to rip people off rather than make a game for to art of it. They are in game dev to copy anything remotely successful for the sake for saying they can make financial profit RATHER than the fun of producing the art . Theiregocentric mind only allows them to look at this as "don't be the next kickstarter celeste" rather than enjoying it. Just like their ego keeps having him pretend to comment to themselves like a damned fool. They are a plague to the gaming community, unlike people like yourself and I :) we are the normal ones.
Very well designed and realized. Delicious self contained story. Great feeling and masterful handling of the theme, across gameplay and art (music, graphics). Congratulations, and thank you!
Awesome. I especially like smooth jump controls. Only annoying thing is having to switch gun modes. Why not just have all (collected) abilities active at once?
I loved this game! It wasn't that difficult of a metroivania game, but short and sweet. I loved that I could get lost and explore. Some of the collectibles are missable, but that's fine, as they are only there to boost the score. What really sets this game apart from other pico-8 games is its presentation. From the little exes at the end of each speechbox, to its well designed water physics, it akes it seems very professional. One thing I would add is something at the beginning to show you the controls, as even though this would be great on say, an nes, many beginners won't know which button is which on keyboard. Also, you could try adding a map, but then the game would be too easy for more experienced players.
The game took about 15 minutes, and overall was a solid experience, 5/5

Is there any chance, this would also run on Android 4.1 with game pad controller support? That would be great.
love it
such a cute idea and comforting art style
this little game is brilliant, beautiful and super fun to play! Well Done!!!!

Amazing!, which language did make it in?
It was made with Pico-8, which is a fantasy 8-bit console with built in code, sprite, map, audio and music editors.
Here's the official website if you want to check it out: https://www.lexaloffle.com/pico-8.php
So sick, love the gritty art style!
what palette did you use?
This is the palette I used:
If you want to use it in Pico-8, here's a table of it: {0,128,2,3,4,133,134,15,8,137,9,139,12,5,131,13}
I don't like swamps, but other than that I love the game! Perfect!

It is a funny game it reminds me the old platform games on the NES
I really enjoyed playing and Speed running this game.
i will try to get better on some jumps but overall 10/10 for a short and amazing game ♥ here is my speedrun - 2:26:32
I really loved this game! Congrats!
I like the look and mechanics of the game. It think it's a really simple and short game. It is a bit hard to figure out what to do but I think that adds to the game.
nice game
Looks lovely.
Will purchase/donate when i get some money in the bank :)
I need more!
Great new addition to the library! Outstanding work on this! I hope you win the jam
very cool game, and I respect you for developing on PICO, it is not the kindest of game engines :] well done
Good game, would be cool to see more levels in the future!
Good work man feels really good and polished for a game jame game.
Good job on getting a small game done and finished!

nope

Maybe we should be passive aggressive and leave comments on SupraGames steam titles?

Awesome game and mechanics! Really enjoy the time playing. "Well Done!"
I had a really good time playing it.

Very, very good, an appealing art style and a well balanced game. Bravo!
Loved it! Thats a perfect game for me
True talent is recognized here.
This game blows my mind, idk how's even possible to make something like this in pico-8 but here it is. Nice!
Great game. Managed to pull my head out of my ass and find my way around and beat it.
